Holiday Fun at Tweed Regional Gallery
re/JOY is a major exhibition by Thai-born Australian artist, Vipoo Srivilasa, that honours and celebrates the multi-layered
personal migration stories of people from all over the world who have made Australia home.
Encapsulated in seven new 1.5 metre tall ceramic sculptures, are the stories and broken pieces of objects that held significant meaning to fellow migrants along their journey. An eighth sculpture references the artist’s own experiences migrating to Australia, based on his grandmother’s button that holds strong family connections.
The exhibition examines the emotional connection we have with everyday objects and their role in our lives through migration experiences and memories.
On now until 8 February 2026 at the Tweed Regional Gallery, re/JOY is an Australian Design Centre (ADC On Tour) national touring exhibition, presented with assistance from the Australian Government Visions of Australia program and Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body.
Family-fun these summer holidays
The Gallery’s popular free drop-in summer program Artmaking for Everyone is back and takes inspiration from Vipoo Srivilasa’s sculpture Dance of Dreams. Follow Vipoo’s cats as they invite you to decorate a wall in the Gallery Foyer with symbols of joy.
Share your story
Share your story about a broken object from a faraway place that is meaningful to you. How did this object come into your life? Draw your special object and display your story on the Gallery wall—it may travel to other places, sharing your story far and wide as the exhibitioncontinues its journey!
Workshops for young Clay Makers!
There’s nothing like working with clay to let your imagination run free with two ticketed workshops at the Gallery this January. For clay makers 5–7 years, ‘Mini + Big Bestie’ is the workshop for you. For kids 8–12 years ‘Kids Fly Solo’, might be more your style. Both these workshops include take-home pottery, plus a complimentary Paint-a-Pot class at Crockd Studios.
